"Who Wants To Go Hat Shopping With Me Tomorrow?"

or Conor's Mohawk Journey

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how it all got started. All I know is that Conor instigated the events initially; though, admittedly, the course of the events and their outcome were quickly wrested from Conor's control.

I was driving home from work at just after 3 AM this morning when I got a call from Conor. "Rivers," he said "come over to Cory's. I'm gettin' a mohawk." There was no question in my mind as to what needed to be done. Since I would be acting as the sober party in this situation, I similarly needed to serve as the voice of reason. This, of course, meant me holding Conor's wrists as Cory carved a swastika into his scalp with an electric beard trimmer, but I'll get to that in a minute.

As I arrived, Conor had just sat down for his haircut, and Cory was certainly giving him one. Conor bitched and moaned through the whole dirty ordeal, I guess this wasn't unexpected as a beard trimmer is probably not the best tool to use on bare scalp.

Then came the aforementioned swastika. The inclusion of the swastika meant either one of two results, both equally funny. Either:

(A) Conor keeps the swastika and has to face his parents with it (not that facing his parents with a mohawk is much better) then has to go to and face Shenaynay at SuperCuts of whatever the fuck is open on Sundays.

or

(B) Let the gathered party shave his head down to the scalp with a razor.

He reluctantly opted for option "B".

...but first, the ultimate indignity.

Since all the razors we had were used, I had to run and get some more from the gas station. I decided to go ironic with some razors called "Good News".

Cory started the job.

I did the middle part of the project by shaving renegade patches of hair and trying my best to shape the mohawk into a straight line.

**Taxi Driver reference goes here**

Cory finished the job by shaping it up. On our part, the completed effort was surprising to say the least and most impressive to say the most.

Two-and-a-half hours later and a couple of bloody nicks here and there, and the job was done. Conor had a mohawk.

ALL PHOTOGRAPHS IN THIS POST WERE TAKEN BY RICHARD P., THANKS AGAIN.
